Social Media: Power to stupidity!
Hello World (and the one person who actually reads this), took a bit of a hiatus due to a new job opportunity I recieved and I may say it’s pretty interesting to say the least. Anyways, recently I decided to cut off my dependency on Social Media (IG, Facebook, etc…. Except Twitter since I really done have people who really talk to me there) once more and I can see a big difference when it comes to social interaction: NONE…WHAT…SO…EVER! Seems in today’s world, social media pretty much rules our day-to-day activities that once was mundane and uneventful. Everything from the moment we wake up, to where we go, what we eat, how we feel and anything else we do seem to have some form of social media attached to it. Whatever happened to actual personal interaction? As technology advances, either it improves or deteriorates depending by person to person. The one bad thing that I see the Internet gives people is the ability to give stupid people the power to make others miserable or hurt them via social media.
A perfect example is an incident that recently happened to an acquaintance I speak to from time to time on Twitter…. Alisha B. (@blushalisha) of the up and coming girl-group “Blush” (@blushgroup, Check them out) came under attack on both Twitter and Instagram from some spammer telling her hateful things, in which I will not even repeat, on any pic or tweet he could find. Due to these action, Baby B (as she’s known as well) took down her twitter account for her personal safety.
My first question for the spammer who did that would be the obvious would be: WHY!?!? What did this young lady do to you to show so much hatred and malice towards her? In what way did she hurt you or your life? What’s sad about this is that people don’t ever need a reason to be hateful, they can file behind a facade on the Internet and pretend to be someone else just to be spiteful. The Internet has so much potential for good while others exploit it to troll and ridicule the masses. I think the ones that recieve the most are people who have been able to accomplish dreams and aspirations that others only imagine and never even try. In all honesty, we as a human society hate ourselves for never doing things we always wanted to do, thus giving us fuel to bash others who HAVE done them as a defense mechanism.
The best way to deal with people like trolls or spammer is just ignore them…. The more attention they are given, the more ruthless and unforgiving they become. There’s always gonna be people who hate on you because are different, that just shows that you will become something greater than those who will never strive to achieve their goals. Maybe, just maybe, one day people will be able to overcome such ignorance and malice that we can all just get along and use these gifts we are given to help out others new, far, and in between…. But that’s asking too much as it is. Until then, do what you do best and keep on moving forward because we are the only ones that stand in Our way
